Biogas upgrading or cleanup is a process where contaminants in the raw biogas stream are absorbed or scrubbed, leaving more methane per unit volume of gas. Biomethane is produced by converting biomass and waste, such as manure, agricultural waste, and food products via anaerobic digestion into biogas. CLEAN-BGAS UPGR is a technology focused on biogas upgrading for biomethane production. There are different stages in the technology and it is based on a chemical process which includes a chemical scrubber with amine. The technology has different modules: How does Biogas upgrading work? Biogas is a mixture of CH 4, CO 2, O 2, N 2 and other trace gases. It is produced by the anaerobic digestion of food waste, animal manure, landfill and sewage.

The trickli… A biogas upgrader is a facility that is used to concentrate the methane in biogas to natural gas standards. The system removes carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, water and contaminants from the biogas. The solution is the use of biogas upgrading or purification processes whereby contaminants in the raw biogas stream are absorbed or scrubbed, leaving more methane per unit volume of gas. Greenlane’s biogas upgrading systems are marketed and sold under the Greenlane Biogas™ brand. Biogas upgrading systems cleanse the impurities in biogas and separate the carbon dioxide from the biomethane to create a clean, high-purity low-carbon fuel: renewable natural gas (RNG). Greenlane is the only biogas upgrading company to offer multiple core technologies: water wash, pressure swing adsorption (PSA), and membrane separation.

SVENSK SAMMANFATTNING av SGC Rapport 270: Biogas

Biogas Upgrading Through The biogas upgrading process from Carbotech is a simple procedure: The raw biogas is first compressed, following the condensation of water content through a temperature exchange system and finally trace elements, such as hydrogen sulfide (H2S), will be removed with activated carbon. Biogas upgrading is the process of the separation of methane from the carbon dioxide and other gases from biogas. The concentrated biogas – close to 100% methane is called ‘ biomethane ’ or ‘renewable natural gas’ (RNG).
